Datacard group is a 30 year veteran of the Middle East market through sub distributors. It has had its own office in Jebel Ali for five years and has attended Gitex for the past seven years. With such a background the company was bound to return again this year, said Josee Rheault, marketing and communications manager for Europe, Middle East, India and Africa.
It covers just about every aspect of printing cards from pre-paid telephone cards with concealed PIN numbers to highly secure ID cards for restricted areas or national ID purposes.
The main aim of being at Gitex is to support customers and partners, said Rhaeult. She explained that, particularly for customers that have secure applications, it can be the best opportunity for a live demonstration of the machines that actually print the cards because the company is quite secretive about the precise processes used, in order to forestall the possibility of forgery.
The Euclid 8200 Card Personalisation System is the daddy of making pre-paid personalised telephone cards. The company said the Euclid offers pre-eminent profitability through perfomance and productivity. Producing personalised plastic and board cards is done at a pace that is helped by parallel drive belts that allow printing formats to be changed quickly so reducing time spent idle.
Rheault added that although Gitex was not dedicated to technology such as Datacard’s, the company’s range of products allowed it to justify its attendence when competitors that are focused on niches cannot afford to attend. Datacard can offer solutions to SMB’s so it has a wider target market than only large enterprises like Etisalat and banks.
