Autodesk is using Gitex 2002 to premiere the latest version of its mapping product, Autodesk Map 6. The application is intended to provide companies with a tool for creation and management of maps and other geographical schematics.

The new version of Map includes functions for integration with Oracle 9i database functions, classification of map objects, improved import and export to other GIS applications and enhanced creation through COGO.

Larry Diamond, vice president of GIS Solutions at Autodesk, commented: “Autodesk Map 6 makes it easier for our customers to input data and classify it according to terminology and concepts that they’re familiar with, and to communicate more readily with other users.”
