A Pakistani who claims to be the world’s tallest man is making daily appearances at Gitex, courtesy of LG. It seems Ghulam Shabeer, who stands 8.5 feet tall (2.51 metres), is here to illustrate his host’s success in the Middle East.

“At LG we believe our products stand head and shoulders above the rest,” explains Mr P.C. Choi, managing director, LG Electronics Gulf FZE. “Ghulam’s presence is a reflection of the heights we aspire to in all aspects of delivery from design to customer service.”

Another giant offering at the LG stand is the world’s first Internet refrigerator, heralding our future digital lifestyles. The LGE Internet Digital DIOS Refrigerator can be used to surf the Net and make videophone calls as well as to store and cool food.

Unlikely to be available in the Middle East for another two years, the DIOS nonetheless highlights LG prowess in delivering the networked home.

The refrigerator provides real-time information on grocery products and stocks available on the Net and features easy-to-use touch screens, a music box, an electronic pen and voice messaging.

There’s even a schedule management function, which will store important dates such as anniversaries and birthdays.
