Grand Stores is showing off their new FujiFilm FinePix S2 Pro. Launched in early August of this year, the S2 digital SLR camera has met with enormous success with professional photographers in the UAE.

“We can hardly keep up with demand,” says manager of the photography department Sanjay Darber.

The camera, using FujiFilm’s super-CCD technology, produces a massive twelve megapixel resolution, outstripping that of any other digital SLR that has gone before it.

It is the third-generation of Fuji’s super-CCD. It works by interpolating the data from 6.2 million pixels to twelve million; this is done by the shape of the individual photodiode sensors, which are honeycomb rather than the traditional square shape.

Based on Nikon’s popular F80 film camera, the S2 retails at US$4,000.
