Finland is looking to boost its IT trade with the region through the launch of a new web site. The Digital Finland site aims to increase awareness within the region of Finnish IT companies and their products.

The site, www.digitalfinland.ae, was inaugurated yesterday by Risto Rekola, the Ambassador of Finland to the UAE. It will detail the activities of Finnish companies in the region, as well as helping them find new partners and opportunities.

“The United Arab Emirates is an important trading partner to Finland. Moreover, Dubai has developed into a dynamic gateway to larger regional markets for Finnish products. At the moment there are about 25 Finnish companies present in the UAE out of which half a dozen are information and communication (ICT) related companies,” says Rekola.

"I am happy that this year, for the first time, Finland will be present under “Digital Finland” at Gitex with a national stand. In previous years a number of individual companies have taken part in Gitex. This year there will be five Finnish ICT companies present with great expectations,” he adds.

Among the companies using the site are mobile communications giant, Nokia, digital communications company, Axel Digital, mediation software solutions provider, Comptel, mobile internet and data security specialist, Nixu, smart card manufacturer, Setec, and, messaging systems creator, Tecnomen.
