Symantec is teaming up with local partner, Aptec to reach out to its partners and strengthen their internet security expertise. Both organisations are conducting awareness programs for business partners and enterprise end users during the course of the show.

The seminars are a continuation of an extensive education program that has been ongoing over the last two quarters. The road shows have received an "overwhelming response," from attendees, claims Prajit Arakkal, Symantec's business unit manager for Aptec Group. The road shows have reached five major cities in the region between April and May of this year. “We have been pioneering this move by tapping every area of the internet security business,” says Arakkal.

“We have implemented free pre-sales support for our business partners, which have helped design a proper and feasible solution for the enterprise,” comments Arakkal.

Aptec is also working with Executrain to deliver certified training courses on Symantec. The distributor is also working with professional trainers from the US, Europe & South Africa to provide counter-hacking courses “to minimise threats of networks getting hacked,” says Arakkal.

Kevin Isaac, general manager, Symantec Middle East adds, “Gitex 2002 will reflect the success of Symantec’s strategy of becoming the preferred provider of internet security solutions to the enterprise buyer, while continuing to serve its 100 million consumer base. Symantec’s growth can be attributed to its track record for defeating blended threats with managed security solutions for the client, server and gateway platforms.”
