Yemen Airways has deployed SITA’s Common Use Terminal Equipment (CUTE) at Aden International Airport. SITA will host and manage the solution, which will consolidate check-in and boarding systems for airlines at the airport.

The solution will streamline operations at the airport enabling it to cope with the 5% growth in traffic registered last year. Yemen Airways will also use SITA’s CUTE Lite, a remotely hosted solution designed for smaller airports.

Following the deployment, airlines at the airport will be able to share passenger-handling facilities, and also access their own applications from CUTE workstations for functions, such as reservations, ticketing, boarding pass and baggage tag issuance and departure control.

Alongside CUTE, SITA also deployed 12 Intelligent Workstations (IWS), a remote main server as well as local back-up servers. Gate readers will also be installed across the airport’s eight check-in desks and four gate facilities.

“With the installation of CUTE in Aden, Yemen Airways has added yet another key component of SITA’s portfolio to its successful IT systems, namely the Gabriel reservations system. With SITA’s CUTE we are sure to deliver even better service to all our valued airline customers. We are looking forward to completing the next phase of our project which will be the implementation of SITA’s CUTE at Sana’a Airport.” says Mr. Amin Al Haimy, managing director, commercial affairs for Yemen Airways.

Hani El Assaad, SITA’s president, Middle East and Africa adds that ”the implementation of SITA’s CUTE will help to cost effectively streamline operations at Aden Airport and passengers will benefit from improved service and reduced check-in times.”
