Western Digital (WD) will be showcasing its latest 200 gigabyte hard drives with its channel partners at Gitex 2002. The upcoming show is the largest IT trade show in the region and is expected to attract in excess of 50,000 visitors between October 13th and 17th, so it should provide ample opportunity for Western Digital to shift its products.

The company expects strong up take of its high capacity drives as storage intensive applications involving internet downloads, imaging, home video editing and gaming become more popular.

“Western Digital technology continues to revolutionise the way PC users in the Middle East store their electronic data, and with the launch of the WD Caviar 200 GB model Western Digital is demonstrating that it is successfully delivering the highest capacity and highest performance EIDE hard drives,” said Klaas de Vos, Western Digital vice president and general manager, EMEA.

Western Digital’s partners Al Yousuf and FDC International will be exhibiting the products as opposed to WD itself. “Gitex 2002 will be a great opportunity for WD to showcase its new products with two if its channel partners and share with our end-users the powerful benefits of high-end electronic storage,” added de Vos.
