Consulting firm, Meta Group is bringing its CIO boot camp to Dubai at the end of October. The two day event will bring together senor level management with its own analysts to deliver a ‘winning IT investment strategy.’

“We are very excited about bringing the CIO Boot Camp program to the Middle East and to Dubai in particular as the emirate is fast becoming the IT hub of the region. The growing IT community in the Middle East has generated the imperative need for such programs that will allow CIO’s to keep updated on current trends in the industry,” says Zaim Azrak, general manager, Meta Group Middle East.

A major focus of the boot camp is portfolio management, which helps organisations to manage their IT assets more effectively.

“Given the current economic outlook and ever-tightening IT budgets, our clients are actively using our IT portfolio management methodology to do more with less,” says Fred Amoroso, Meta Group CEO & president.

“Participants at our CIO Boot Camp in Dubai will get a jump-start on how to put our research into action,” he adds.

According to Karen Rubenstrunk, executive vice president & director of Meta Group’s executive services, most Global 2000 companies have yet to maximise their IT investments. The role of the CIO in helping organisations streamline the deployment and management of the IT infrastructure is going to be key going forward.

“We have specifically designed our CIO Boot Camp as a very close-knit event — capping attendance at 55 people — so that we can address each participant’s specific challenges, enable attendees to share their best practices and collectively drive home how to create an IT organisation that can articulate, measure, and communicate the business value of technology,” says Rubenstrunk.
