The Russians are coming

Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) is leading a big promotional drive to attract more Russian visitors to the emirate.

Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) is leading a five leg roadshow covering five cities in Russia between today and September 6. According to DTCM, Dubai’s hotels welcomed over 200,000 Russian visitors in 2001, with 459 Russian tour operators offering Dubai packages

“Russia is a major source of visitors to Dubai and the DTCM works round the year to attract more Russian business and leisure visitors to Dubai, through our marketing activities in Russia,” said Mohammed Khamis bin Hareb, DTCM’s director of operations and marketing.

“The DTCM has stepped up its promotional activity across Russia, the CIS and the Baltic States in a drive to attract increased business and leisure traffic to Dubai from a market that offers considerable potential.”

The five cities covered by the roadshow are Moscow, Rostov-on-Don, Samara, Ekaterinburg and Kazan. 250 travel trade professionals were expected in Moscow and over 100 in each of the other four cities.

Amongst the companies joining DTCM in Russia are Net Group, Golden Sands, Alpha Tours, Metropolitan Hotels International, plus several other hotels and tour companies.
