Dubai Internet City (DIC) is to standardise its cabling infrastructure on Avaya’s Systimax solution. Avaya’s cabling solution has already been used in the first two stages of the free zone’s expansion. To cement the relationship further, both organisations have signed a ten year memorandum of understanding (MOU) for the design and implementation of DIC’s communications network infrastructure.

“Avaya has been involved with the development of the free zone’s communication infrastructure since the outset. DIC has always been positioned as providing the region’s largest and most advanced IT infrastructure and services, providing companies with the necessary tools to tackle the growing Middle East market,” says Ahmad Bin Byat, director general of the Dubai Technology, E-Commerce and Media Free Zone (TECOM), the holding company of both DIC and DMC.

“The cornerstone for meeting this challenge is the deployment of a comprehensive, reliable, and high performing communications infrastructure that can not only meet the demanding business communication needs of today but tomorrow as well. Avaya’s Systimax Connectivity Solutions meet these requirements as well as delivering enormous scope for further network expansions as more advanced applications are deployed,” adds Bin Byat.

Martin Hennessey, sales director, Connectivity Solutions Middle East, North Africa, Turkey and Greece, Avaya, adds, “cabling infrastructure is critically important – it’s the lifeblood of information systems. It is most often hidden from view and therefore not treated as other IT products or services yet without a comprehensive cabling infrastructure many business entities today would cease to operate.”
