Emirates has confirmed a five year extension of its sponsorship of Australia's premier race meeting, the Melbourne Cup Carnival, through continuing the naming rights for the final day – Emirates Stakes Day. It includes two prominent races, the Emirates Stakes and the Emirates Airline Legends Race.

“Australia is an important market for Emirates, and one we are committed to for the long-term,” said Ghaith Al Ghaith, Emirates’ Commercial Operations Director. “We are pleased to be able to demonstrate this commitment through our valued partnership with the VRC.”

Emirates first partnered with the Victoria Racing Club in 1997, when the airline sponsored the Group 2 Emirates Classic on Crown Oaks Day. A year later the airline expanded its involvement with sponsorship of the final day.

Since then, the race meeting has grown to become the family day of the Carnival, building its own atmosphere and reputation as a relaxed, family affair.

“The calibre and diversity of the organisations who have partnerships with the Victoria Racing Club, in particular Emirates Airline, truly represents the world-class event we stage at Flemington each year,” said Mr Andrew Ramsden, Chairman, Victoria Racing Club.

The Melbourne Cup Carnival will take place later this year from Saturday 2nd November to Saturday 9th November.

Earlier this month Emirates launched a new service to Perth.
