The eTrust Antivirus from Computer Associates International has achieved the status of becoming the first antivirus software solution to be certified across two versions of the Microsoft platform, namely the Microsoft Windows 2000 Datacentre Server and the Advanced Server.

“The CA eTrust solution is a standard in the industry and our anti-virus solution, for example, is one of the most reliable and scaleable of any solution available on the market today,” said AbdulAziz Al-Salloum, managing director, Computer Associates Middle East.

To achieve the certification, eTrust Antivirus met the requirements of Microsoft’s “Certified for Windows” programme through VeriTest, the testing division of Lionbridge Technologies. The certification programme includes standards for secure, manageable, and reliable solution operations on Windows 2000 Server products. Applications certified for Windows 2000 Datacentre Server Edition are specifically tested for reliability, high availability, and fault tolerance on servers with up to 32 processors.

“Windows 2000 Datacenter Server is used to support a company’s most critical applications, which makes effective antivirus protection for these systems an absolute must,” said Jeff Price, senior director, Microsoft Corporation. “By meeting Microsoft’s high standards for Datacenter Server certification, CA has demonstrated its commitment and ability to deliver this essential protection with the requisite enterprise-class platform integration and scalability.”
