Emirates Racing Association (ERA), the UAE’s controlling body of horse racing, has outsourced the management of its IT infrastructure to Dubai Technology Partners (DTP).

Under the terms of the service level agreement (SLA), DTP’s consulting division is taking responsibility for Microsoft Office suite, technical and proactive support for ERA’s desktop, servers and network and fault reporting for all problems encountered.

ERA’s entire IT infrastructure consists of 59-networked PCs, plus 20 standalone and 4 servers. Since taking over ERA’s infrastructure the organisation has experienced an increase in uptime from 68% to 99%, and help-desk response time has decreased from 3 days to 45 minutes. ERA also saves 20% in terms of technology procurement.

“After studying the feasibility of running our own internal IT division versus outsourcing, we can up with the simple conclusion that outsourcing is more efficient and effective for us,” says Terry Spargo, ERA’s IT coordinator.

“Since we joined forces with DTP Consulting, we have been more than satisfied with their level of service and are very impressed with their response time, technical know-how and strategic planning for future growth,” he adds.
