EgyNet signs Huawei Tech in broadband deal

Egyptian ISP EgyNet has signed Huawei Technologies to construct a broadband access network using Huawei’s MA5105 product.

The deal sees Huawei satisfying EgyNet’s present and future networking requirements for broadband services of VoD, Internet surfing, VPN and broadband prepaid card services.

MA5105 is designed to perform broadband access, collect traffic volume from end users and multiplex it into ATM 155M cells, then transfer it to the relevant service nodes or ATM backbone network. MA supports ADSL, CE (Circuit Emulation), LAN and frame relay.

Shenzhen, China-based Huawei Technologies specialises in the research and development, production and marketing of telecommunications equipment, providing customised network solutions for telecom carriers in fixed, mobile, optical network and data communications network. It claims 2001 revenue of US $3.1 billion.

Currently, over one million Huawei ADSL lines and 980,000 10M LAN ports have been put to work through commercial applications around the world in 38 countries and regions including Germany, Spain, Russia, Brazil, Kenya, Thailand, Singapore, and Hong Kong.
