Al Jazeera to go on-line from Washington

Arabic channel signs exclusive webcasting agreement with Worldtent.

Al Jazeera TV and Worldtent, Inc. have reached an exclusive webcasting agreement. The agreement gives Worldtent the live webcasting rights to the Al Jazeera Arabic Channel, which Worldtent will make available by, paid subscription on the website.

Worldtent, located in Washington, is headed by journalist and lecturer Mohamed Hakki. According to Hakki, the company “takes advantage of the converging technologies of digital media to service all under-served Arab expatriates around the world via the Internet.”

The Worldtent website features live Middle Eastern webcasts of 17 popular TV and radio stations such as Al Jazeera, LBC and the Abu Dhabi Channel plus movies on demand, music videos and exclusive cultural and political commentary.
