Kingdom Holding Company (KHC), chaired by HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal was ranked second largest company in Saudi Arabia for the year 2001 with equity hovering around $19.2 billion, according to the Top 100 Saudi companies list, compiled and published by Al-Eqtisadiah newspaper.

Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC), a 70% government owned company, came in first place, thus making KHC the largest privately-owned company.

Kingdom Holding Company ranked second in 1998, 1999 and came in first in 2000, while ranking second in 2001.

Alwaleed holds substantial investment stakes in a number of companies in Saudi Arabia, North America and Europe.
