Digital lifestyle device company, BenQ, is expanding operations in Kuwait as it looks to grow sales in the country by 100% in 2002. Robert Dung, regional managing director for BenQ, believes the majority of this growth will come from the company’s display products sector, with storage unit products following closely behind.

“The Kuwait market for digital lifestyle products – digital cameras, plasma displays, LCD monitor, CRT monitor, projectors, DVD-ROMs and CD-RW drives, and mobile telephones – is absolutely enormous and growing significantly each year. Kuwaiti users of technology are demanding that their products be digitally compatible and that they be easy to use. This niche is where BenQ really has something to offer the market here in Kuwait City,” says Dung.

“BenQ Middle East has enjoyed strong sales in 2001, and we expect to surpass 100 million USD in sales for the year 2002,” he adds.

BenQ’s authorised distributor in Kuwait is Al Sarraf Computer Services Company and the vendor has been in town to educate both Al Sarraf and its other channel partners on how they can best move BenQ products.

“BenQ Middle East executives are in Kuwait City today to participate in a country-specific dealer seminar. Our goal is to educate and motivate our channel partners about their ability to bring enjoyment and quality to life for Kuwaiti consumers, by freeing them to better see, hear, and touch the world in today’s digital age,” says Manish Bakshi, sales & marketing manager, BenQ Middle East.

Elsewhere in the region, BenQ will continue to build its Dubai and Tehran offices and the vendor already has plans to open an office in Saudi Arabia, Egypt, South Africa, and Turkey.
