Aramex buys Memo Express

Aramex, a major regional shipping company, has bought UAE delivery company Memo Express. The deal will give Aramex another string to its bow in the Emirates.

Aramex, a major regional shipping company, has bought UAE delivery company Memo Express. The deal will give Aramex another string to its bow in the Emirates while allowing Memo Express to continue operating as normal.

There is a programme of familiarisation for employees of both companies to allow the change ownership to go as smoothly as possible while ensuring that the companies leverage the benefits to be had.

Fadi Ghandour, CEO of Aramex explained that Memo Express has a comprehensive network across the UAE and that the acquisition will mean customers get better service because of cost savings and efficiency gains. “This strategic transition allows us to offer an unmatched combination of products and services across the market, and we are optimistic about the possibilities now open to us in the UAE,” he said.

The companies together have a total of 550 employees and 4100 clients in the UAE using a fleet of 91 cars and vans and 166 motorbikes. The companies will continue to operate as separate entities but back office systems and technology will be integrated. The companies’ statement promises that there will be no job losses involved.

“The merger comes at a time when customers are demanding a more comprehensive service in the field of express delivery from a domestic, as well as regional and international level,” said Kurt Springis, general manager of Memo Express.

“By merging these two strong brands we’re complementing one another, and this can only be positive for customers and employees alike,” he added.
