Switzerland’s new national carrier, SWISS, is attempting to lure more travellers from the UAE to its country through the launch of its travel portal, www.travelswiss.com. The portal, designed with UAE travel agents and consumers in mind, offers travellers information about travelling to Switzerland and enables online booking as well.

“We are extremely proud to be able to offer our UAE customers a one-stop shop that covers all their travel needs and queries. I believe this portal will fill a gap in the market as it has comprehensive online information tailored specifically for the UAE market,” stated Felix Rodel, gulf area manager, SWISS.

He added that the airline has taken special steps to provide improved technology and communications on board. “Services such as SMS messaging are now available on all flights,” commented Rodel. The portal provides password-protected pages for travel agents with details on all SWISS flight codes, fares, aircraft types, operational details and airline regulations as it applies to the UAE. In addition, travel agents can also order posters, brochures and timetables as well as link directly to SWISS sales representatives in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. “Currently, travel agents have to communicate with airlines via fax and telephone to confirm flight codes or fares,” explained Rodel. “With growing Internet use in this region, this portal will be an excellent information resource for travellers.”
Travellers can now book their flights to Switzerland online through the portal’s on-line booking form. Information such as flight timetable, fares and special offers, promotions and general corporate information are available to all. The web site links to an extensive range of information on Switzerland for holidaymakers and business travelers alike, including the Switzerland entry-visa application form and a link to the Swiss tourism web site. Information on hotels and weather are also available.

The airline also has plans to include tailor-made information for travellers from Oman and Saudi Arabia within the next couple of years.
