Intel has released its latest versions of the Celeron processor. Two new CPUs have been announced, running at 1.4 and 1.7GHz, aimed at the value desktop PC market.

“The new Celeron processors deliver the right combination of features and frequency at a variety of price points for the value desktop market segment,” said Gilbert Lacroix, general manager of Intel Middle East.

The new processors mark the transition of the Celeron range to 0.13 micron wafer technology. Although the 1.7GHz is still based on 0.18 micron technology, the 1.4GHz model is on the new, thinner wafer. Pricing for the new chips is $83 for the 1.7Ghz and $89 for the 1.4GHz in 1,000 unit quantities.
