The Middle East CIO of the year and the Innovator in Information Technology in the Middle East award will both be announced at this week’s Middle East Chief Information Officers’ Summit (MECIO’02). Both awards will be given to individuals at a gala dinner.

The Middle East CIO of the Year award is given to a CIO who has shown business technology leadership and innovation. It will recognise work over the last year that is expected to have great long-term impact on the winner’s organisation.

The Information Technology Innovation award has been instituted by the hosts of the summit, Computer Associates Middle East, Fujitsu Siemens Computers Gulf, Microsoft Middle East and SAP Arabia. It will be awarded to an IT innovator from the Middle East whose success in a unique endeavour has significantly advanced emerging technologies benefiting both business and society.

Bob Hawkins, director of Management Consulting Services, PWC Consulting, who are the awards’ presenters, said, “we consider these awards to be very prestigious and look forward to being associated with them every year.”
