Samsung Electronics has confirmed entry into a Gulf-wide alliance with Autodesk, the design and digital content creation company. Both firms claim the partnership will strengthen their ability to deliver high-end design solutions, particularly to architectural and engineering customers.

It is hoped that the new monitor/software bundles will boost monitor sales to vertical design industries. “Samsung expects to see a 50-60% jump in sales to the architecture and the engineering industry sectors as we combine Autodesk’s design software with our pioneering monitors,” said Mr. K.S. Vasudevan, regional manager, Samsung Digital Information Technology Division.

“Together, with our shared vision of offering best-of-breed IT solutions that break the bounds of today’s me-too product offerings, we can significantly enhance the computing experience for millions of users,” said Mr D.K.Byeon, managing director, Samsung Gulf Electronics.

Specifically, Samsung has launched several smart monitors pitched at the design community. The TFT-LCD monitors range from 18 inches up to 24 inches and include features such as multiple window display and screen divider: users can run multiple applications without switching to a new monitor in the process.

The new widescreens are also designed to field complex illustrations comfortably in a single screen.

“This alliance with Samsung will be another exciting step forward for Autodesk,” said Mr. Ahmad Al Jassim, Country Manager, Autodesk. “By combining Samsung’s cutting-edge technology with our pioneering design software, we will significantly strengthen our market presence by making the computer experience more interesting and enjoyable for users.”

To further promote the new partnership, and tap the market potential that exits in this region, Samsung and Autodesk have arranged a series of future roadshows and cross-promotional campaigns.
