Aramex, a major regional shipping expert, has announced an upgrade to its online services. Customers can now track domestic shipments in the same fashion as international ones. That is, via a web site that is linked to the company’s database and has detailed information on every package in the system.

The only information the customer needs to hand is the airwaybill number and then details like the time of delivery and who signed for it can be checked. The technology ois based on Microsoft’s SQL Server 2000.

“Aramex has the capability to pick up and deliver shipments from city to city in every country in which it operates, thereby meeting customers’ local distribution and information needs,” said Osama Fattaleh, vice president, Near East, Aramex. “Our domestic services range from immediate inter-city same day services to overnight delivery,” he added.

The domestic tracking service is currently operating in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan and Bahrain. It will soon be operational in Egypt, Lebanon, Palestine and India.
