MobileCom rolls out Chat service

Jordanian GSM operator, MobileCom is rolling out a mobile chatting service, which enables customers to chat through their handsets or online at the MobileCom website.

Jordanian GSM operator, MobileCom is rolling out a mobile chatting service, which enables customers to chat through their handsets or online at the MobileCom website. As part of the launch, the service will be available for free until April 7th 2002.

“MobileCom Chat is a totally new service being offered for the first time in Jordan. It provides a host of features and options that will be automatically installed on our customers’ SIM cards,” said Erick Valette, chief marketing officer, MobileCom. “The launch of Chat builds on MobileCom’s commitment to provide the most advanced services that are simple to use and affordable. [Previously] Jordanians could only use online chatting services through the Internet, but MobileCom is offering chatting capability through its mobile network.”

MobileCom has been able to remotely upgrade customer’s SIM cards, and users are able to access chat through their mobile phone’s menu list. While customer that register through WAP or the web site will receive an SMS message containing their password details.

“MobileCom Chat enables customers to chat in different chatting rooms and within different groups. Each user can create his/ her chatting group and send an SMS to multiple recipients with a single command,” explained Yanal Mufti, communications manager at MobileCom.

“This service from MobileCom is one of many new services that customers will be seeing over the next few months. We are continuously working to ensure that our customers are receiving the latest services available in Europe and Asia,” Mufti added.
