U.S. Robotics has announced that its new ADSL Ethernet modem has been approved by EgyNet, Egypt’s provider of DSL connectivity.

The new product enables speeds of up to 8 Mbps over existing telephone lines: up to 145 times faster than current connections.

“We welcome all products and solutions that make it easy for everyone in Egypt to take full benefit of the Internet,” said Ahmad Sallam, EgyNet.

“DSL opens doors to those who want to use the Internet in order to exchange larges files, download music or even films. It allows for the creation of brand new avenues of business in Egypt and stimulates the exchange between us and the rest of the world.

“Inexpensive solutions such as U.S.Robotics’ ADSL Ethernet modem take the free Internet yet a step farther in Egypt, allowing the country’s business people and its youth to rise to the Internet age.”
