Jumbo Electronics has donated 50 Intel PIV, Supra PCs, loaded with fax modems and equipped with multimedia capabilities to the Dubai Education District today as part of a community outreach programme. The company participated in a similar initiative last year to help primary and kindergarten schools in Dubai.

“Supporting the education sector is very important to us as it is the fabric of social development and progress,” said M R Chhabria, chairman, Jumbo Group. “We are in the process of formalising such initiatives and will soon be allocating an annual budget for such activities. However, our emphasis will be in the area of Dubai as we support the vision of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who has been driving the IT initiative in this region. But, we will also look at similar initiatives in the other Emirates as we have a presence across the region.”

Vishesh L. Bhatia, CEO, Jumbo Electronics added that the contribution was Jumbo’s “way of giving something back to the society and thus play the role of a good corporate citizen.”

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Ayub Badry, manager, Dubai Education District stated that such efforts from the private sector were needed to support the government in its community initiatives. “I appreciate this initiative of Jumbo and do hope that this will continue for years to come,” he commented.
