Modern House Furniture LLC a Sharjah based company, is joining forces with a Sudanese player, in a US $8 million manufacturing joint venture which will help the company penetrate the African market. The joint venture will see a 12,000 square metre factory being established in Khartoum.

“It will turn out foam mattresses, sofa sets, chairs and material for partitions to begin with but gradually the range will be expanded,” said Sulaiman Abu Eida, Managing Director, Modern House Furniture LLC. “Our initial market research shows the African market is huge and needs to be tapped,” added Abu Eida.

The company is planning to showcase the joint venture’s capabilities and their Sharjah factory products at The Office Exhibition, which will be held at the Dubai Airport Expo from May 20-22. “At the show we will also inform visitors of our new US $137,000 upgrade of our Sharjah factory to include additional machinery for a new carpentry section,” said Abu Eida.

“This is in line with increasing business demand for contract furnishing. In the UAE taste in office furnishing has shifted towards the aesthetic use of wood.” Modern House is among exhibitors from 12 countries from Europe, the Middle and Far East, which have, to date, contracted for The Office Exhibition.
