Mydsf.com, the official website of the Dubai shopping Festival, along with Yahoo! India and Intiqua Middle East, a Dubai Internet City based software company, announced a new initiative to help small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in Dubai embrace the Internet.

Called NetInvent, the initiative aims to deliver a high quality, cost-effective web presence to SMEs in Dubai. “The vision of His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and UAE Defence Minister, is that along with e-Government, the general public and the private sector also have to be encouraged to start conducting business over the Internet,” said Hussain Lootah, CEO of Dubai Shopping Festival.

“A web site is the first step in this direction. The problem for small and medium sized enterprises has been the absence of a single source that can deliver a complete solution – from domain name registration and hosting to web site development, maintenance and security. Our tie-up with Yahoo! and Intiqua Middle East helps us to deliver precisely this solution,” added Lootah.

Companies interested in making use of the services of NetInvent can contact Laila Suhail, Executive Manager of mydsf.com, at the Dubai Shopping Festival office. Under Project NetInvent customers can opt for one of two packages – Gold and Platinum. In the Gold package, a customer gets a 7 page web site with domain name registration, 5 e-mail accounts, 5 sub-domains, hosting, security, content updating and maintenance, 10 GB data transfer every month and 25 MB of disk space. The cost is a mere AED 8,500.

In the Platinum package, a customer gets a 15 page website with domain name registration, 10 e-mail accounts, 10 sub-domains, hosting, security, content updating and maintenance, 20 GB data transfer every month and 50 MB of disk space. The cost is AED 13,500.

“We are delighted at partnering mydsf.com on this project. This partnership project is a global first for Yahoo! Dubai is the first market in which we are launching this kind of a product,” said Deepak Chandnani, CEO of Yahoo! India. “SMEs need a reliable, high-quality solution that is delivered quickly. The sites will be hosted on Yahoo! Servers and our customers can therefore be assured of the global Yahoo! standard,” added Chandnani

The software solution will be created by Intiqua Middle East; a Dubai Internet City based company. Intiqua has developed the new mydsf.com web site, which will provide tourists all the information they need to plan and enjoy a visit to Dubai. “DSF was our first client in the Middle East and we are extremely happy with the way mydsf.com has turned out. It is a showpiece project for us as a company and now we are looking forward to creating high quality web solutions for all the companies that opt for Gold or Platinum packages under Project Invent,” said Sanjay Hinduja, managing director of Intiqua Middle East.

Meanwhile, Dubai Shopping Festival has given a new look to its website www.mydsf.com and has made it more comprehensive, dynamic and interactive. An important new feature of mydsf.com is a new DSF-Yahoo! Messenger. A regional first, this Messenger has the look and feel of Dubai and Dubai Shopping Festival, and can be downloaded from mydsf.com.

The mydsf portal has been divided into various modules providing in-depth information on Dubai as well as the Dubai Shopping Festival, Shopping in Dubai and Dubai Summer Surprises. The Festival’s events, attractions, promotions, raffles and every other aspect are covered in the About DSF module.

The module offers a detailed calendar of DSF events and activities, along with an Event Planner that allows people to tailor their itinerary according to their preferences. The module also provides information on major DSF promotions and raffles. A Media Centre, which provides information for the media and the general public, is also included.
