Maxtor Corporation has entered into a strategic agreement with Network Appliance. Last month, Didier Trassaert, vice president, Maxtor, EMEA had also hinted that more such agreements with OEMs would be announced by the storage company this year. Maxtor’s Network Systems Group will supply the storage subsystem modules that are being integrated into Network Appliance’s NearStore product family. NearStore systems provide backup consolidation, rapid data recovery, and online archive solutions for the enterprise.

“We are very pleased to be partnering with Network Appliance, a recognized leader in enterprise storage,” said Mike Cannon, Maxtor’s President and CEO. “We developed the storage subsystem module to meet Network Appliance’s requirements, and we are delighted with their decision to partner with us to address NearStore’s market opportunity.”

Ray Villeneuve, vice president of strategic marketing, Network Appliance added: “Our NearStore systems provide reliable, high capacity storage for enterprise data retention and retrieval applications like backup consolidation, rapid data recovery, and online archive.”
