Fujitsu Siemens Computers (FSC) has signed an agreement with Jumbo Electronics, Intel and Microsoft to start a campaign in the UAE to introduce FSC’s Scaleo range, a hi-tech built-to-order series of PCs. The campaign will target the young computer users in the country who understand and appreciate the hardware specifications of a PC.

As part of the campaign, a gaming show will take place at Jumbo House, Dubai to allow prospective customers and clients to have a hands-on experience of the Scaleo range of PCs from Fujitsu Siemens, powered by Pentium 4. The promotion will offer residents and visitors to Dubai a chance to play Microsoft’s MechWarrior game against the computer, and win prizes.

“We are pleased to be part of this four-way promotion which links some of the most famous names in the global IT industry with Jumbo Electronics, a well-known IT retailer in the region. Cooperation of this kind is sure to bring about extensive synergy that will result in better offers for consumers,” said Farid Sabbagh, account manager Consumer Business Gulf region, Fujitsu Siemens. “Computer games demand the maximum performance from a computer, and the Scaleo range of PCs is packed with performance enhancing state-of-the-art technologies which provide the gamer with complete technical satisfaction,” he added.

“Jumbo has designed this gaming promotion in order to impart a specific personality to this range of PCs. We aim to target the educated youth segment who are not only well versed in IT terminology but are also looking for optimum performance from well-entrenched hardware,” said Sumant Saran, general manager-IT Division, Jumbo Electronics Ltd. “The Scaleo range of PCs from Fujitsu Siemens has been specially designed to specifications that we have laid down after tabulating the results from an extensive market survey. By promoting this range as a gaming PC, we are assuring the prospective customers of the Scaleo range that this is an ideal machine for PC power users”

Prizes for the event include computer accessories sponsored from Intel.

“Intel became interested in this promotion because FSC’s Scaleo PC’s are powered by Pentium 4,” said Gilbert Lacroix, general manager of Intel Middle East and North Africa. “We are very pleased to co-sponsor this wonderfully attractive gaming event with Jumbo, Fujitsu Siemens and Microsoft. We hope this will be a pilot event that can be expanded in the future to a more regional context.”

The game chosen for the event is Microsoft’s MechWarrior 4: Vengeance, which has been developed by the creators of BattleTech Universe and the original MechWarrior game. MechWarrior 4: Vengeance is a combat skill game in which players try to control an armed 40-feet tall, 100-ton war machine across the remote battlefields of a hostile world.

The gaming show promotion will be held every Thursday evening for three weeks beginning from Jan 31, 2002 at Jumbo House in Bur Dubai. Each group of four participants will compete on separate machines against the computer and the contestant with the highest score will be awarded the prize in each group.
