Benq, formerly called Acer Communications and Multimedia, has announced the launch of its own regional head office at the Jebel Ali Free Zone. The company will operate under a non-Acer management team headed by Robert Dung, regional managing director, Benq. It also announced its sales forecast for the region this year stating that it would attain a growth of more than 100 per cent.

“Benq Middle East has enjoyed strong sales in 2001, and we expect to surpass $100 million in sales for the year 2002. Benq Middle East will see its largest growth area in the display products sector, with storage unit products following closely behind,” commented Dung.

He stated that the Middle East market for digital lifestyle products such as digital cameras, monitors, projectors, storage drives and mobile telephones was growing significantly each year. “Regional users of technology are demanding that their products be digitally compatible and that they be easy to use, and this niche is where Benq really has something to offer the market,” said Dung.

Starting today, the company will also be conducting a series of seminars for its dealers to educate its channel partners on new marketing strategies that will enable them to reach out to the Middle East consumer.
