Almasa Distribution is targeting the Indian market with the exclusive distribution rights for ExcelStor Technology in the country. Almasa’s Indian operation, which was only launched in June of last year, will cater for the fastest growing segment of the Indian PC market with ExcelStor’s range of entry-to-mid level hard drives.

“This is the first time we have had direct representation in India,” said Eddie Lui, CEO & president of ExcelStor Technology. “Our aim is to cement our position in the market and then later enlarge our footprint to encompass the Indian Sub-continent and the Middle East. Almasa Distribution has shown strength in the right support infrastructure that compliment our products.”

The agreement will position the Hong Kong-based company’s range of drives to the small-to-medium and educational markets in India, the value-conscious end of the market. The range of 5400RPM, Ultra ATA drives are available in 10GB, 15GB, 20GB and 30GB models.

“Almasa has aggressive plans in place to launch the new hard drive brand into the market” said Gurpreet Singh Sangha, India Country Manager, Almasa Distribution. “Our success lies in understanding the market place and working closely with manufactures. We are confident that in six months we will have carved into a considerable share of the storage market for ExcelStor hard drives” he said.
