Aptec Gulf is set to double the size of its Jebel Ali logistics centre to cater for its expanding business in the region. Aptec almost doubled the size of its business in 2001 from the previous year, and expects to continue growing throughout 2002, so it is expanding its logistics facilities to mirror this growth.

“As distribution is based on successful logistics management, we have deployed a substantial amount of our resources into this new project, where we are hoping to service our clients better with the new set up in place,” said Bahaa Salah, regional general manager for Aptec Gulf, Lebanon & Africa.

The expanded centre will also feature improved automation and computerisation, that will allow customers to track shipments and processing online.

The facility, which will also service Aptec’s operations in Saudi Arabia and Egypt, aims also to address Aptec’s new ‘Quality in Servicing’ initiative, said Salah. The initiative builds on Aptec’s previous drive to value added services.
