IBM personal computer division (PCD) has appointed Logicom as a distributor for the Middle East. The distributor, which announced major expansion in the region last year, will distribute IBM PC hardware across twelve countries.

Sameh Farid, regional manager for IBM PCD Middle East, Egypt & Pakistan commented: “Customers are looking for best of breed technology with best of breed service. We believe that by teaming with such companies as Logicom, IBM offers an unbeatable proposition.”

Logicom will distribute the IBM NetVista and ThinkPad ranges in Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan, the West Bank, UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, Oman, Yemen and Pakistan. The Cyprus-headquartered distributor already has a strong presence in the Levant, and has expanded into the Gulf region last year with the opening of regional offices and a distribution hub in Dubai.

“Our reliable and value-adding business approach has helped us in gaining substantial partnerships with major IT companies in this region,” said Varnavas Irinarchos, managing director of Logicom. “Today we are really proud to be chosen by a major vendor like IBM as one of their PC product distributors in the region.”
