Maritime and Mercantile International (MMI) insists that rumours of the demise of its IT solutions business have been greatly exaggerated. Reports from several sources have suggested that MMI was either going to close down or sell the business, but no decision has been made, according to Piers Burton, corporate marketing controller at MMI.

In a statement to Arabian Business magazine, Burton said that: “MMI Technology Solutions is conducting business as usual. Categorically, none of our staff members have been asked to leave.”

The statement continues: “The division is currently undergoing an operational restructuring under approval from the MMI board of directors, and should there be any significant developments in the future, we will make them known.”

MMI Technology Solutions supplies software in a range of areas: Sage for enterprise resource planning; Ascent for customer relationship management; QuickSell Commerce for retail and POS software; Warehouse Manager for Supply Chain Management and Tesseract for field service management. According to the company’s Web site, clients include Burgmann Middle East, Aggreko Middle East and Spinneys Supermarkets.
