National Bank of Dubai (NBD) is to upgrade its current Oracle Financials implementation to Oracle’s 11i E-Business Suite as it aims to streamline back office processes and lower operating costs.

As part of the project, the bank will install the vendor’s Human Resources Management System in an attempt to optimise its human capital and lower its administration costs per employee. The system’s payroll component is expected to reduce processing time and costs, while the self-service functionality should enable NBD’s managers and employees to access and manage information and transactions over the Internet.

“Streamlining back-office processes is critical to a bank’s overall service and profitability, as more efficiency and lower costs enable organisations like NBD to better serve our customers as well as our employees. NBD’s upgraded financial modules and new human resources applications will allow us to significantly reduce administrative procedures, which leads to a healthier bottom line as well as more time to develop new products and services,” says NBD's general manager, R. Douglas Dowie.

“NBD chose Oracle as our business applications partner for this project based on Oracle’s Internet-based functionality, the company’s ability to integrate new solutions with our existing applications, and the superior local support we have received thus far from Oracle Middle East,” he adds.
