Press Release Network (PRN), a news distribution and media monitoring service, has launched an ‘Online Media Centre’ for PR companies and journalists. For an annual fee of US $3,000, an organisation gets a unique Web address, 200 Mbytes of dedicated storage and FTP access to the PRN server.

Subscribers to the service can post their high resolution photos and press materials such as brochures, product literature and audio/video clips at the site. Press releases can also be archived with a news search engine.

The idea is that journalists can then come to the site to view and download the pictures and promotional materials that tickle their fancy. PRN claims that it’s visited by hundreds of journalists
from across the globe every day.

The benefit of all this, theoretically, is that you get to establish an online presence within minutes. Then there is the cost saving benefit from not having to courier press releases and photographs to journalists.
