Intershop has teamed up with Egyptian software company, Nilesoft, to push its Internet procurement, hosting and other online services to the country’s banking industry. Through the deal, Nilesoft will offer implementation, training and support for Intershop’s Enfinity e-commerce platform as it looks to sell into its existing financial customer base.

“Egypt’s financial sector, as well as its number of Internet users, are both experiencing rapid growth and development, offering new opportunities for banks to expand their online services. Nilesoft is determined to develop its e-commerce capabilities to address this market, and we believe Intershop has the ideal software offering for the Egyptian financial services industry,” says Abdel-Hamid Abed, chairman, NileSoft.

“Egypt is a key market for Intershop in the development of regional e-commerce, especially as the Egyptian government is actively creating incentives for online trade. Nilesoft, with its prestigious customer base and extensive software expertise, will enable Intershop to extend our e-commerce capabilities to key organisations within Egypt,” adds Basel Tutunji, Intershop’s MENA sales director.

Following their planned expansion in the financial services sector, the two companies intend to jointly address online opportunities within Egypt’s government and telecommunications markets.
