The Dubai Ports Authority (DPA) is one of the first companies trading on Tejari.com to complete a leading-edge integration project that links its back-office systems directly to Tejari. DPA has successfully interconnected its Maximo-based Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to the Tejari marketplace, utilising the integration services of Maximo’s manufacturer, MRO Software.

The groundbreaking integration initiative, demonstrated for the first time in the Middle East at GITEX 2001, is also the first time that Maximo has integrated with an Oracle-based marketplace in either Europe or the Middle East.

DPA anticipates significant business benefits from this integration initiative. The connectivity enables the DPA to streamline its buying cycle and source new machinery online efficiently, eliminating administrative tasks and speeding up the delivery process for goods and maintenance services.

“DPA is one of the most Internet and IT-focused branches of the Dubai government, and we have achieved the integration of our back-office processes with Tejari in record time,” commented Jamal Majid Bin Thaniah, Managing Director, Dubai Ports Authority.

DPA’s own procurement and IT professionals managed the DPA integration project jointly with local MRO consultants, and Tejari’s integration experts. After completing its current pilot test phase, the ports authority plans to go “live” with the integration shortly.

“The DPA is one of MRO Software’s flagship clients in the Middle East, and it has been a critical learning opportunity for us to integrate our Maximo software with a leading online marketplace like Tejari," added Gaby Matar, General Manager for MRO Software in the Middle East.

For Tejari, the new integration component now available to its members demonstrates a significant value offered by the marketplace. Members can reduce their procurement costs even further by linking their own procurement procedures directly to Tejari, cutting down on paperwork and administrative resources.

“The marketplace is encouraging its other members to further connect their own IT systems with Tejari to maximise the return on their technology investment,” said Sheikha Lubna Al Qasimi, Managing Director of Tejari.com.

Tejari also links directly to ERP solutions and other applications that its members already have in place. A number of Tejari members, including Dubai Duty Free and MMI, are engaged in similar integration projects with the marketplace.
