Sony Broadcast and Professional opens DMC office

Sony Broadcast and Professional officially inaugurates the new Middle East and Africa office, located in Dubai Media City.

In a particularly ritzy display of corporate success, Sony Broadcast and Professional officially inaugurated the new Middle East and Africa office, located in Dubai Media City, at the Burj Al Arab last night.

In attendance was Sheikh Hasher Bin Maktoum Juma Al Maktoum, Director of Information Dubai, who welcomed with open arms Sony's re-affirmation of its local presence by taking up residence in Dubai Media City.

He recalled the time when Sony Broadcast first arrived in the UAE and presented Dubai television and radio with Sony equipment. Sheikh Hasher accepted the gift, and there's been no turning back since. As Sheikh Hasher said "It's rare these days to see a professional broadcast camera that is not Sony."

Miles Flint, president of Sony Broadcast and Professional Europe explained: “One of the main reasons for this ongoing success is that Sony Broadcast believes in being close to the market. We believe that we need to be in a business partnership with our customers, because they invest in projects that develop over time. We therefore need to work with them to ensure that our customers’ investments are secure, both financially and from a technology-redundancy point of view.”

Having achieved a turnover in excess of $100 million in this region in 2000, the opening of headquarters in Dubai Media City is a logical step, and one which places Sony Broadcast in convenient proximity to its customers.

“Partnerships of all kinds are becoming increasingly important because the world of media and broadcast television is changing. Conventional television will continue for many years, but customers are exploring the opportunities to deliver any content to any platform at any time and any place.

“This change is being made possible by the transformational effects of broadband networks and Sony Broadcast is among those best placed to develop the future consumer and professional audio-visual business,” said Flint.
