The Porsche Boxster sitting on IBM’s stand in hall three has the usual Porsche features, plus, thanks to IBM, a few new optional extras. Now while racing around the country’s highways the driver can talk to the Web.

The car is loaded with IBM software including WebSphere Everyplace Suite, the IBM MicroDrive, an extremely compact high-performance disk drive, VisualAge Micro Edition and the Via Voice speech recognition software.

“IBM has always used Gitex as an opportunity to unveil to people in the Middle East the most exciting and up-to-the-minute applications of technology straight from our labs," said Farid Metwaly, IBM General Manager, Middle East, Egypt and Pakistan. “This stunning technology follows in the footsteps of the Wearable PC, the Personal Area Network, the Network Computer and Arabic Via Voice in receiving its Middle East debut on the IBM stand”
