As quality of service becomes a critical business factor in the Middle East, BMC Software is delivering a visual experience of service level management to its visitors at Gitex.

BMC's stand, which has been designed to emulate a corporation's operations centre, is running a live IT enterprise management centre.
Through the advanced BMC Software management solutions, visitors are able to witness how "critical" business applications can be managed in the enterprise environment.

Tim Peck, general manager of BMC Software in the Middle East, explains that the simulation gives visitors to the stand a more realistic view of how things work than canned demos and presentations. He adds that systems management may not be the most glamorous topic in IT, but it is definitely one of the most important.

"The last nine months have seen businesses in the Middle East differentiating themselves on service levels. This means that systems management is critical as, for example, when companies employ IT based customer service centres their people need access to customer information 24x7," says Peck.

The company's management solutions come under two main categories — infrastructure and service. The former is defined as the "efficient control and execution of critical IT operations," which includes administration of platforms, databases, storage, network, security and middleware technologies.

Through the latter, BMC Software aims to give enterprises the ability to establish and meet business-based, service-level objectives while readily adapting to the business changes that regional companies face as they grow.

Peck hopes to identify between 20-50 potential customers for the next 12 months at this year's show, as well as taking the opportunity to raise brand awareness.

"Gitex is an opportunity to make people think of BMC software when they think of systems management," he says.
