Jordanian GSM provider, MobileCom has extended its roaming coverage to include Syria. The service, which has been lunched in through Syrian operator Spacetel, is the country’s initial roaming agreement with an international operator.

MobileCom currently provides roaming services to its customers in 69 countries and 125 operators.

“Today’s announcement reinforces MobileCom’s promise to provide its customers with the ability to use their MobileCom line in more countries. We are already providing our customers with a range of quality services along with coverage to 98.5 percent of the populated areas,” said Yanal Mufti, communications manager at MobileCom.

“MobileCom is committed to providing its customers with the most advanced services available, and today, MobileCom is going down in the history books as the world’s first GSM operator to offer roaming capabilities in Syria.”

MobileCom has made the move to extend is roaming service to Syria due to the number of Jordanians currently travelling to the country on a regular basis.

“We want to ensure that our customers are able to depend on their MobileCom lines when travelling overseas regardless of where they go — our agreement with Syria confirms this,” added Mufti.
