BurJuman Centre has launched a web site for its Safe & Sound campaign, an annual breast cancer awareness programme, pioneered by the shopping mall and endorsed by the Dubai Department of Health & Medical Services to promote early detection of the disease and help fund raising in the UAE in aid of Al Mosanada Cancer Foundation.

Safe & Sound will run from October 1-21. The campaign will feature a host of activities based on the now familiar ‘pink ribbon’ theme, including the daily in-mall awareness clinics, where women visitors can receive first-hand advice and information from medical professionals from Dubai’s Welcare Hospital.

The new site,, developed by local multi-media specialists The Websmiths, contains a wealth of information on the best methods of early detection and treatment.

Sabina Khandwani, Head of Research and Marketing at BurJuman announced that the site "will be one of the most detailed websites in the Middle East with full information on the stages of breast cancer, screening and prevention, symptom management, people’s experiences of the disease, spiritual support and more.

“The beauty of Safe & Sound’s new website is that it provides women with a valuable resource that is quick, easy to use and accessible from their own homes,” added Khandwani.

BurJuman is organising UAE-wide lectures to offer free education and self-examination advice to a wider audience than ever before, along with pink ribbon collection boxes at the mall and other venues to help raise funds.

Besides a host of themed events and activities at BurJuman and locations across the UAE, Safe & Sound 2001 will also enjoy the patronage of Dubai FM and the Arabian Radio Network.
