Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, executive chairman of Dubai Ports, Customs & Free Zone Corporation announced today the launch of MyJAFZA, a portal designed to offer clients of the Jebel Ali Free Zone authority (JAFZA) with online administration services.

"MyJAFZA promises to herald a new era in the way the Free Zone Authority and our customers interact and conduct daily business,” said Bin Sulayem. “The growth of our customers business translates into our growth. It is, therefore, in both our interests to not only broaden the range of quality services we offer, but also to increase the efficiency and convenience of establishing and operating in the free zone. This underlies our strategy to actively explore the Internet as a means of improving business performance.”

JAFZA authorities intend, in the first phase of the project, to focus primarily on reducing over-the-counter-services and manual documentation. Ten key services that will be provided online include license and lease renewal, health card renewal, residence permit renewal, employment card renewal, employment and visit visas, permanent identitiy cards, permanent access cards and temporary access cards. Other services include online tariff, enquiry, cancellations, rules & procedures and a customer bulletin board. More services are set to be introduced in the near future.

MyJAFZA is the latest addition to a package of online services developed by the Dubai Ports, Customs & Free Zone Corporation. Last year saw the launch of the MyDPA portal. Currently, MyDPA has over 560 registered users, representing over 95 per cent of Dubai Ports Authority (DPA) customers. The portal is supposed to ensure that all registered Free Zone customers have access to electronic services, irrespective of charges, thereby, reducing time-consuming manual documentation procedures.
