The Business Channel has appointed two international broadcasters, BskyB’s David Foster and Jim Gilchrist.

Foster, 46 joins as a presenter after four years of anchoring and reporting for Sky News’s international business news service.

Gilchrist, 42, has taken up the position of output editor after three years producing the nightly business programme, Sky Report.

“These appointments are in line with our overall revamping of the station which will shortly see new programme schedules in operation,” said Rashid Murooshid, managing director, Business Channel.

Foster’s career has taken him to 30 countries around the world and he has covered business, superpower economic summits, five UK general election campaigns, two US Presidential campaigns and has worked extensively at the United Nations.

“The drive, determination and energy that I know is at the Business Channel, coupled with the excitement of this region as a business centre, makes this an extremely exciting opportunity,” said Foster. “It’s diverse, different and certainly will never be dull.

Gilchrist started his career on a weekly newspaper in the north of England, moving to national media in Hong Kong. He moved into production with TV AM and has previous working links with the region.

“I have wanted to return to Dubai for sometime and be a part of the major developments taking place here,” said Gilchrist. “The Business Channel is ambitious and I hope to play a role in helping to achieve the vision behind it.”
