The latest addition to the Palm’s m100 series, the m125 handheld, has launched today (Sept. 20th), offering dual-expansion architecture.

Pitched at first-time buyers, educators, students, and customers upgrading from earlier handhelds, the new architecture is designed to carry additional software, such as eBooks, photos, short videos and reference materials.

It’s also an opportunity to plug into portable hardware: certainly extra memory, as well as add﷓on modules like modems, digital cameras and Palm’s own collapsible keyboard.

For all the expansion potential, Palm’s greatest asset may yet be the aesthetic redesign, based on the contour shape of the m100 series but now with a two﷓tone silver and black faceplate.

Under the hood, and the m125 comes fully loaded with the latest version, 4.0, of the Palm OS. Palm has responded to the market-wide acceleration of handhled processing capabilities: the m125 boasts a Dragonball VZ 33 MHz processor, faster than its m100 predecessor, plus 8MB of RAM.

In a Middle East exclusive yesterday evening, the m125 was previewed at the Axiom Store, City Centre Dubai, including a hands-on demo by Stuart Maughan, area manager, MidEast Branch, Palm.

“From the campus to the workplace, the Palm m125 handheld is customizable and expandable to fit your lifestyle,” said Stuart Maughan, Palm Middle East. “A college student, for instance, can add a portable keyboard to manage their heavy schedules, communicate with teachers and friends, and take notes during lectures.”

“A busy professional, on the other hand, can add a sleek, wireless modem to send and receive email, or use a 16MB memory card to back up important Word and Excel documents,” says Maughan. “It’s all about satisfying the unique needs of our customers.”

The Palm m125 handheld has an estimated street price of AED 899.00 and includes bundled software solutions valued at more than AED 370.00
