Burgeoning demand has prompted Dubai World Trade Centre to consider expanding the financial and trade sectors at the second annual Careers UAE exhibition. The event, which caters solely to UAE nationals, was reported virtually sold out by mid-September.

The exhibition is being organised by DWTC in association with the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) and The National Human Resource Development and Employment Authority (TANMIA). It takes place at Airport Expo Dubai, December 24-27.

Previous participants say that they have found the show useful for finding high calibre national recruits. "For us, the best thing about this exhibition is that we have an opportunity to meet students who are still pursuing their academic studies,” said Yasser Sharaf, business development manager of the Sharaf Group.

”It gives us an opportunity to identify candidates for work placement and enables us to liaise with the educational institute to identify strengths and weaknesses in their programs. We can then offer suggestions and ideas that will ensure graduates are ready to meet the challenges of the workforce."

Sharaf says that the company hired half of an intake of sixteen nationals following last year’s exhibition.
