If it’s hardware you’re interested in, then Gitex has got the lot. Show visitors will be able to choose from servers, scanners, motherboards, fax modems, monitors and other computer components as they seek inspirations for their computing needs.

Brand names like Compaq and Acer will compete alongside regional manufacturers both from the Middle East and beyond.

“Hardware is the backbone of the IT industry. This year’s Gitex will showcase an extensive range of cutting edge computer hardware that will ensure more integrated end-to-end solutions and enable visitors to the show to make smart purchasing decisions,” said Jillian Shaw, international project manager, Gitex.

For the first time in the region, Compaq will demonstrate its GS series of servers in addition to a full range of PC products like the revolutionary iPAQ pocket PC.

The new EVOTM family of corporate notebooks, desktops and workstations will be unveiled during the show, in addition to the latest server technology such as the ProLiant and Task Smart servers.

Acer is set to showcase its latest high-end, business-use products and solutions with a particular focus on small and medium businesses, incorporating trading, hospitality, contracting and other solutions.

A broad range of products will be displayed including PC servers, multimedia desktop computers, notebooks, computer peripherals and components. The latest generation of advanced mobile PC — the TravelMate 611 TXC — which offers leading DVD/CD-RW combo drive in the 14-inch class, smart card security and Intel-based performance, will be on display, ensuring that Middle East users benefit from high performance mobile computing technology, regardless of location.

A regular participant at Gitex and one of UAE’s leading Gigabyte motherboard suppliers, Golden Systems Electronics LLC, will exhibit a full product range of Teac FDD, CD-Rom, Fujitsu hard disks, Surecom networking products, VIA processors, task casings and power supply and GB Mouse Keyboards in addition to other multimedia products.

The authorised distributor of Genius brand PC systems in the Middle East and Africa, Genius Computer Technologies (GCT), will use Gitex to showcase its new corporate image as well as a variety of products from Genius including fax modems, networking hardware and scanners.

Alis Technologies (Arabic Latin Information Systems) promises a new selection of peripherals including printers designed for a variety of environments from entry-level solutions for professional environments to multiple-high technologies.
